chips are a waste of many and a shot in the dark, bottom line, end of story.
get the honda base uint and have it tuned, that is the only way you will be assured power

Go to http://www.pgmfi.org and learn how to tune and chip your ECU yourself.

If your motor is built, especially if it has an aftermarket cam, I seriously doubt lowering the VTEC will give you any power. It will probably cost you some HP in a N/A application. You need a custom chip for your application. MUGEN/Skunk2 bootleg ROMs are junk and you will run too rich.

dropping vtec on a mostly stock motor, this even includes bolt ons, isnt gonna do much. if you raise your rev limit, make sure that you have a cam that will make power above stock rev limit, and that you at least have stiffer valvesprings to handle the greater lift/duration/ramp rate of the cam. get in touch with kenji. i never had him chip something for me, but ive heard many good things, and ive talked to him via email a few times and he is a super nice guy

i just want to lower my vtec because everytime i shift at 7 grand it falls out of vtec for about 1k rpm and im sure thats costing me some amount of power.

depends on many things, you need to be more specific on what has been done and what you personally want. check my sig.

I have a chipped p28 in my car. I have three different chips from skunk2 and they each have their own vtec/speedlimiter/revlimiter settings. They are very easy to get and install. If chipping your ecu is the route you want to go i would recommend doing something to this effect.

i know wat you mean, if money was with me id do the same. you can get 'vtec timers' which hook up to your ecu (get it done pro) and a small unit is put in your car and you adjust when the vtec kicks in. u may also need to have a re-tune for this?? i do agree with some of the other guys though, lower may not necessarily mean better. im not sure what the story is there, but if u drop below vtec from 7k then u might need to change faster - heavy duty clutch?!

Hondata, Uberdata, and a VAFC are going to be your best bet because they are tunable and you can extract maximum power. As far as just a chip is concerned, talk to EG6 AJK...one of his programs (I believe the RPT program) gained 9 WHP over the stock P28 program.
