Hi all im new to this site and I joined hoping I could learn a few things about Honda's because I own a 94 honda civc ex 2dr thats not properly running. I have lots of questions and hope some of you experts would be willing to share with me your knowledge.

my civic starts but when driving it randomly cuts off. i dont know if this is a transmission problem or electrical? anybody know?

and my exhaust is making a knocking noise and there is water leaking from the muffler and it blows out white smoke. i know that the smoke means that water is leaking somewhere or something but im not too exactly sure where or what.

If any one could help id really appreciate it!

first part sounds like ignition switch.

second part sound like head gasket.

your "exhaust knocking" description really sounds like rod knocking in my book. you sure it is the exhaust?

the car starts up fine would it really be the ignition switch?

i think it is cause i can go down there and hold it and it'll stop makin that noise

the water coming from your muffler could just be condensation...however it could not be water...i could be antifreeze??? does the "water" smell sweet...or taste sweet?? and the white smoke means your burning oil...also a sign of blown HG.

it didnt smell sweet. it was kinda brown too. i thought white smoke was water was being burned and blue or black smoke was oil?

white smoke is coolant or water
black smoke is fuel
blue smoke is oil

brown smoke means its time to change your hamsters litter box

seriouslly...never heard of brown smoke coming from exhaust.

nah i meant the water that leaked out of the muffler was kinda brown. but some of it was clear too. so what im lookin at is either a blown head gasket, or sumtin wit the ignition switch, and my uncle said it could be my transmission. so out of those 3 its one of them. which is the worse and if it is any of those 3 is it worth fixing cause its an automatic?

White smoke is most likely a head gasket, get it warm and then take rad cap off start it up again and see if coolant blows out of rad. Motor randomly cutting off could be anything. Does your check engine light come on?
