Whats the going rate for a stock D16Y7 oil pan gasket?

A friend and I have been working on this guys 98 DX Hatch actually we have been in the process of throwing a turbo on it. We cranked it today and ran it for awhile and found out that the oil pan gasket that is on there is leaking like a big dog!!! Its actually a Fel Pro oil pan gasket that the dude bought for his car and I installed it https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emthdown.gif It was a pain in the ass and I had to use a ton or silicone to try to get it to stay in position so I could bolt the pan up to the block. Anyways it was leaking from everywhere especially near the flywheel.

So what is the going rate for a stock Honda oil pan gasket or does Napa sell a gasket similar to the stock Honda one?

Honda part number: 11251-P2A-014. This will fit th 98 Civic DX hatchback w/ D16Y7 motor. List (retail) price is: $28.63 but there are places that sell it cheaper. This Honda parts wholesale website ( http://www.parts.com/partlocat...13756 ) has it for $22.90. http://www.slhondaparts.com/ has it for $22.79. I am sure other people can tell you of other Honda dealers to go to as well. But that should help you out.

Could it be the use of a shitty gasket + rack-o-sealant = big time oil leak?

Are you just assuming that the gasket install was done correctly and so the pan is bent? If you lay the pan on a straight surface, are all the nipples touching the surface evenly?

Why not try an OEM gasket + HondaBond in the correct spots + correct torque specs?

Well I would have tried the right stuff if I had it. Remember this isnt my car and Im not dumping the money into it to buy the right stuff I just used what the dude gave me!

And there is a chance the pan could be bent since it was a pain to get off the car. But that can be fixed pretty much. I just need a good gasket to try.

So does anyone know if Napa gaskets are like the stock Honda gaskets?
