Here are some common "codes" that people commonly refer to various body style/generation of Civics - and any code such as "EK" or whatnot can have a number attached to it to specify if it was made in Japan for sale and use in Japan, if it was made in Canada for sale and use in the U.S, etc. etc. or if it's 2 door, 4 door, etc.

1988-1991:

EF, ED, fourth-gen

1992-1995 Civic:

EG, EH, EJ, fifth-gen

1996-1998 Civic:

EK, EJ (somewhat confusing since there were 93-95 Civics that were also EJ), sixth-gen

99-00 Civic:

EK, EJ, EM (used slang for 99-00 Civic Si coupe), still sixth-gen

Then there are plenty of other codes for Integras (DC, DB, DA), Preludes, Accords, etc. etc.

Then there are **** tons of other codes/slang usages that have to do with engine types, but those are not as easily confused since the engine codes are stamped on the engine blcoks themselves.

Also you asked about CTR - that is short for Civic Type R. ITR is Integra Type R.

Also you will see the term "JDM" used so much it will make you want to kill yourself. JDM is Japanese Domestic Market, and bascially it means parts/cars that were made in Japan for sale and use in Japan, but now its a huge craze for people to try and make their US cars look just like JDM cars by changing all the subtle differences such as lights, marker lenses, bumpers, etc. that were different on JDM version of our cars here in the US.

JDM also describes aftermarket quality parts made by Japanese manufacturers too.

Like I said acronyms, abbreviations, etc. are a lot ot tty and decipher when getting into Hondas. If you have any specific abbreviation Q's you can PM me or post them here if this topic doesn't get locked.
