Re: whats the diff between ls cluster and gsr cluster? (litterbox)
As people have said before, the GSR has a higher redline. But there are a couple of other small differences:
1. GSR says "Premium Unleaded Fuel Only." The LS says "Unleaded Fuel Only."
2. The LS can possibly be an automatic, thus having the P, R, N, D4, D3, 2, and L lights.
If needed, I will post a picture of my LS cluster.

I've seen the 8100 figure published before but the tach seems at 8k to me. Rev limiter is a whole different story.,
And shamoo, are you sure that the GS-R cluster doesn't have provisions for the ATX light indicators? I say this because Si clusters have them like all other Civics.

I have seen many GSR's and I have never seen one with those light provisions. This is to say I'm not totally dismissing the fact that they could exist here in the states. I just haven't seen them. I doubt it though. Since they don't make an automatic GSR here in the states, I don't think they would have one available.
I was suprised that you said the Si clusters have them here. I wasn't aware of this at all. Are you speaking of the cars with the B16A's? As in this style car?
However, in JDM land (and possibly other lands) where they do have automatic GSR's (called Sir-G's and Si-Vtecs and the like) they may have provisions for the lights in their clusters.

Re: whats the diff between ls cluster and gsr cluster? (shamoo)
Interesting. All USDM 96-00 Civics (at least) are provisioned for the AT lights, including 99-00 Si's. Seems like a basic cost-cutting measure.
Another interesting point is that Canadian Civics don't have the "maintenance required" indicator and rest button on the cluster (unlike Integas, ours is integrated into the gauge cluster). USDM models do.
USDM - right beneath 0mph
CDM
Don't forget the kph/SiR/ABS among other differences
This eBay listing has a pic of the EK manual cluster. Note the holes in the back.

Maintenance required light is a reminder that goes yellow/red 7500 miles after a reset. It reminds you to go to Honda and give them money, usually for preventative maintenance. CEL/MIL is a fault error tripped the by the ECU and is much more serious as it indicates a problem.

8000 rolls off the tongue better than 8100 so I suspect in the ads where it says 8000 the marketing department got their way. I use the 8100 only because the hash mark next to the 8 is white, just like the hash mark next to the 5, for example. And we know the redline isn't 5000. Splitting hairs indeed.
I'm with you on the rev limiter.
