What's considered RICE and what's NOT...
I don't really want this to turn into a big flame war, but I think the definition of rice seems to be different to everyone now. It started with all show-no go concept, but in MY own mind, I think it has evolved. I think there's a new version of rice around, JDM rice. Everyone talks about how good JDM is and how nice it looks how "tite" it is.
I used to think that cars with large wings, loud exhausts, big wheels were ricey cars. Mainly for the reason that they are modified, but not for performance. There are people with tasteful JDM parts but still don't use it for the way it was intended. Wings that are bought and not used on the track, nice Spoon calipers but they only go drag racing... The list just goes on...
The new wave of rice is JDM rice. People with money and "taste" but buy parts that not only do not make a difference, but mainly buy it for the name and so that people can see they have those parts. For eg. what can an ARC intake do that AEM or Iceman intake can't? It doesn't make more power, in fact, it makes a little less. Still, it's a SUPER-high quality intake, but it's more than twice the price.
Now that more and more people know Spoon/Mugen/Tein/Endless... JDM ricers seem to be saving up money to buy these parts just to let other people or their friends see that they have these nice "performance" parts. In fact, if you were a real racer in the US, you don't even really think of these parts very often. No one in the US uses Tein's for racing, no one uses Endless brake pads for racing, no one uses Mugen exhaust for racing, no one uses Spoon calipers either. Sure, they do use them in Japan, but it's because THAT's JAPAN!!! They make those parts there! It's actually hard to get Hawk pads if they wanted them!!!
Well that's all I have to say, I just wanted to know what you people think about what I feel about my take on this new generation of ricers... BTW, again, this is NOT a flame to those that fall into this category, I myself am probably guilty of a few counts too!

We have proven over and over that we cannot discuss this topic in a civilized manor.
I'll let it go for now...but keep it clean guys, and respect everyones opinion.
