Default Whats better a Civic With Power Steering or not?

i bought a 97 civic a month ago without power steering, kinda hard to get used to, especially when your running under 10MPH.

im not sure if it helps your car without it, i know its easier to drive wit powersteering.

so if anyone knows where i can get a full power steering kit for my 97 civic. let me know ASAP. thank you

I concur, it shouldn't be that bad unless you have a 350 under the hood . i don't like power steering on small cars, you can feal whats going on much better without it.

Also be careful if you have it, those cars have some nasty torque steer.

I like powersteering. All this pansey this and that is bs. Who wants to put more muscle in to turning? Especially when trying to parallel park?

I currently don't have power steering as I took it out when I had my EM1 supercharged. I'd put it back on but I looped my system and I don't feel like messing with it again.

Conclusion, keep it if you got it, if you don't oh well.

Wow, I mean it takes so much muscle and all to turn the steering wheel of a Honda Civic . . .

I know lawnmowers that are harder to parallel park than my Civic. Your arms must be the size of toothpicks.

having no powersteering is a bitch though when your trying to steer around the concrete barriers on our army base and going under 10mph

Hit the Gym! It's not that hard on our light little monsters.

I've had both power steering and non power steering, In my opinion the non power steering models are nicer. You get better feedback from the car, especially when cornering (as somebody said above) and also without the ps pump and such there is less stuff to break over time.

Maybe the 17" wheels, low-profile tires and altered scrub radius have something to do with it?

PS is always the first thing to go on my Civics. I'm not a huge dude, but I don't feel it at all unless I'm at a dead stop with sticky tires, and I live in Columbus Ohio where parallel parking is a fact of life and is usually done on hills. Learn to love life's little challenges

I feel you on the powersteering, I would never put it in the hatch, But Parallel parking everyday at school with 17 x 7 really sucks. I only like not having it because i like to feel the road (not that way).

Give me a break. If a woman EVER sees you struggle to turn your vehicle, just because you were too tough to keep your PS, then shes gonna laugh...and so will her friends...Granted, you dont get as much input from a p/s equipped car, its nice to have...much like AC, but thats another story. Personally, I just like the idea of having a fully equipped car, and i know thats not the way everyone is, but whatever. But the BIGGEST deal for me about PS is this...IF YOU DO NOT HAVE PS ALREADY, DONT PUT IT ON. Changing the steering rack is more hassle than what its worth.

Look, just put the power steering on and if you like it more without p/s, then just cut the belt.
