whats the best way to remove the purple tint that people try to put on themselves?
i was wondering how to remove that ghetto tint that some people are so stupid to put on. I purchased a 94 si hatch and it has that crap on the side windows and rear window. I dont want to mess up the rear defrost when i remove it. Is there an easy way???????

Razorblade will take it off, but you'll lose your rear defrost. I don't know a good way to take off the rear tint.

Re: whats the best way to remove the purple tint that people try to put on themselves? (96coupe)
ive done it on 2 cars,
mirror tint off of the old hatch
and purple tint on the celica
to do this, go to pep boys, or something like that, get 2 cans of brake clean and like have a pack of 5 razor blades, try to peel off the tint slowly with your finger by starting to peel with the blade, peel as much as you can even though sticky stuff does remain. the rest of the tint, take it off by scraping the blade against the window. there is still sticky stuff and your probably wondering what the brake clean is for, spray that whole window with it and scrape away, line by line, if youve ever seen how tinters clean before actually tinting, do it that way. for all windows, except the back. That should just peel off, try doing it slowly with no blade, or jsut the blade at the parts where there is no defroster line, it should come off easily, it did on the civic but the celica, the tint was over 10 years old and became part of the window so i just replaced that. just get a pro to take off the back, and be like heres 20 bucks,do it right, if your worried so much bout the rear defroster
Peace

Tape up your rear window with Trashbags and spray Ammonia on and let it sit in the sun for about 3 hours and you will be able to peel that **** off.

ive done this once and i have a better way...find the corner of the tint, try to peel enough off, then spray soapwater, that will eliminate the residue and make it way easier to peel. mix soap and water is a spraybottle or something. goodluck, worked for me and it took 30 minutes w/out spending ****

Re: (Zanpakuro)
Ok I do this stuff for a living so let me tell you what to do:
Get some degreaser like 409 or fantastik, non scratch scotchbrite (blue one), razorblades, black trash bag.
Now take and pull the edge of the tint off on the sides and spray the adhesive that is left on the window with the degreaser. Now scrape the adhesive off with the razorblade.
Now for the rear. remove any obstuctions in the rear window. and spray the degreaser all over the tinted area. Next take the trash bag and cover the inside area with it. Put the car outside in the sun for about an hour running with the rear defroster on and the heat on in the vehicle.
After the hour, take and peel the tint off and it should all come off (this happens in most cases) If you have any of the adhesive left on the glass then spray the degreaser on the adhesive and use the non scratch pad to scrub the adhesive off.
Now you are done. Clean your glass with your cleaner of choice.
Hope that helps.

I put the car in the sun but I didn't do the other stuff and it worked fine.
