S40 is just the family name for the 96-00 transmissions .. make sure you pick up a tranny that has K4F stamped on the top
also known as the Y8 tranny .. no different gearing than the Z6 tranny .. or you could contact http://www.hmotorsonline.com and pick up a jdm d15b LSD tranny .. i think they go for $350

Re: Whats the best trany for a D15 Turbo?? (tgh22a)
i have a 96 si tranny (all seals and bearings replaced)w/ 92 dx gearing (si would have been too short at 10psi)w/ obxlsd & infinitude final drive =4.928
the reason i chose the dx gearing was that the gears were just long enough to maximize gearing without falling out of vtec. si's were just too short with that final drive. also, the fourth gear is longer on dx's. so you can really pull it out at the end. if you want to spend some hard earned money, this would def be the best way to go.
transmission = lsd (400) FD (450) 2 trannies (100) seals and bearings (300)
this is by far the best way
