I have heard different stories from people and cannot figure out which trans i should go with. What are your opinions. i was thinking gsr trans with type r final gears and and lsd. You would want something with short gear ratios right?

The shortest gear ratios you can run at the track and not top out your 5th gear would be ideal. For you (since I'm assuming you have the B series motor), I would suggest an ITR tranny with LSD.

, but if u are on a budget, b16 tranny has almost the same gear ratios as the type r tranny juss no LSD . good luck

http://www.allmotorhonda.com/t...s.htm

the ys1 from the 92-93 usdm gsr (or jdm xsi) has shorter 1st and 5th gears than the itr, but the same 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. the 98+ jdm itr has longer 4th and 5th but has a 4.785 FD, as compared to the other itr trannies shorter 4th and 5th and 4.4 FD.

a usdm itr tranny (or pre 98 jdm) with the 5th gear from the ys1 (if that works .... i dunno .. i haven't looked into it yet but it should) and the 4.785 jdm final or a 4.9 one from ats would be ideal. the first gear isn't really worth it though, as it's further from second, so you drop to a lower rpm. the 90-93 usdm integra, and jdm sir I has a slightly longer first gear. that's not really worth swapping either.

a b16 tranny with a quaife lsd wouldn't be too bad, as long as the syncros are new, and you can replace them yourself, as they are weaker than those from a gsr or itr.

http://www.f-body.org/gears/ <- gear calculator. figure out the shift points and rpm drops, and see for yourself.
