Re: whats the best tranny swap on a b16? (doood)
cant afford the lsd and the install on it. i know little about tranny work and would have someone install for me. so the cost would run more than the swap itself.

Re: (blackbox)
well a GSR tranny will run you 700+ and you won't have LSD
an ITR tranny will run you 1000+ and then you'll probably get LSD and you'll have the same gear ratio you had with the B16 with the exception of the final drive
You'll maybe get 675 tops for a used b16 tranny
If you staying allmotor there is nothing wrong with the b16 tranny other than the final drive. And between the B16 and GSR the final drive isn't all that different, just a few hundred RPMS in 5th gear on the highway.
IMO, if your allmotor you put an LS final drive and LSD in your tranny and you have yourself one hell of a tranny with great short gears and a good highway gear.
It's still cheaper than buying an ITR tranny which IMO is the only factory tranny better than the B16 for an allmotor application.
Now if your boosting thats another story. As far as an OEM tranny goes GSR with an LSD installed is the best
but then your still in the same dellima where you have to have someone install the LSD for you.
It's really not that hard to work on honda trannys. Just take your time and have a clean place to work, put everything back together the way it came apart.
