What's the best header for a d16z6 engine?
This question has been bothering me for a while. I have searched and read a-lot od post about headers for my engine but never really got a clear answer. In looking at a header, be it a no-name header or a respected brand name, what makes a header a good header as far as performance. I understand the difference between 4-1 and 4-2-1 and have decided that I definately want a 4-2-1 one piece header because I have been lead to believe that this is best for my car as a daily driver/occasional street racer (unless i'm wrong about that). But what is the best header for my car or what is the things I should be looking at to determine if it will perform good on my car? I have a 2.25 custom catback exhaust and a stock cat and a 2.5 in cold air intake. What's the best header as far as performance that I should be looking for on a d16z6 (1994 honda civic coupe)? Dyno charts help too.

i had an RS*R 4-2-1 stainless steel 1piece header on my D16 and it was sick. it made lots more power than my stock si header. i dynoed at 126whp and 110 torque (aem, rsr header and exhaust). i never dynoed before i got the header but i did drag race with just intake and exhaust and i ran 15.5-15.6. then i added the header and i ran 15.3 and a 15.2. i sold my d-series so this header is just sitting in my room. would u be interested in buying it? ive also got a 8lbs clutchmasters flywheel for a d16 that i dont need. if your interested in these parts PM me for more details or videos, pics.

You asked for one, but I know of two, try looking into the HP header and the Landspeedracing header, both are relatively cost effective and have seen good overall gain. Unfortunately, I cannot state where in the powerband either are best. Try to do a bit of research on them if you like, for the D16 engine the headers listed do rather well.

i dont know what the best header is for the d16, but all i know is that i picked up a lightspeed header, for 50 bucks, so i put her on, it sounded raspy as a ****, but then i put a huge resonator on and it sound just deep. lost a little bit of the bottom end, but top end i can feel it a little bit. bottom line is i wouldnt waste money buyin a new header, on a sohc engine. the only reason i bought mine was because of the smoken deal i got, its a 4-2-1 design, meh thats all i got.

Those Air-mass Holley, tork step headers look cool! I think they would give the most power, or maybe a AN-R would be cool.

an-r looks like a pretty good header, but you gotta take ac out tho. i got a 4-1 and i like it, dc sports. less low end, but more power overall.

Interstingly enough, that Lightspeed header is the same design as the now current JG/Edelbrock header. Builthatch has run a Lightspeed header for several years with great success. THe best headers for SOHC are:
1) HYTECH
2) SMS
3) JG/EDELBROCK
4) RSR
5) APEXI GT MANIFOLD
6) LANDSPEED POWERCORE
7) STILLEN
