I know VXs are prewired for vtec, but I'm not sure about the CX.

Just check your ecu and see if it has all the wires coming out of it....if it does then its prewired

Just as hatchingMN said. All 92's are wired from the ecu to the shock towers. You will need to pin in 3 wires at the shock tower and your done.

It really depends on what motor & ECU your going to use. If your ECU wants a knock sensor, you need to add that. If your ECU and motor have IABs (intake air bypass like on GSR), you need to wire those. If your motor/ECU has EGR (exhaust gas recirculation), you need to add that. If your Motor/ECU needs an injector resistor box, you need to add that.

If you want to know if your MAIN wire harness is pre-wired for vtec, look at the plugs on the passenger side shock tower. The top-most plug has the wires in question. Check for wires coming out of the upper most hole closest to the passenger side fender. That is one of the vtec wires (the other is just below & closer to the fender). If you have those wires, your good to go.

Now your engine wire harness is whole different story. If your getting a JDM motor, you have to cut up your USDM wire harness & adapt it to the JDM plugs & motor. If you get a USDM motor, it should plug & play (if its obd1).

or u could just use a SI/EX harness and not pin anything.. thats what i did, and what 3 wires thought there were only 2 for vtec.. ?

Just wire in the 2 vtec wires and ground the other one coming from the solenoid. That is what I meant by the 3rd wire.

You will need to wire up a knock sensor. I suggest you get shilded wire, so EM interferance doens't cause your computer to detect knock prematurly (then it retards your timing).

You will also need to build yourself an Engine wire harness using the plugs from the Sir2.

why doesn he need to build a harness???? all he has to do is add a few wire to his harness.......that makes no sense

I would call that building a wire harness.

It sure ain't plug & play...

i dont belive, i think that only the 92 civics are prewired for vtec in canada, not sure about the rest.

as for the wiring harness i can use mine i just have to add like 4 or 5 wires into the plugs on my harness and it should plug into the harness on the b16, am i right?

You can avoid using a knock sensor if you chip your ecu and disable it.

the p28 from an SI or EX does not look for a knock sensor. The whole program never run an knock sensor.
You can reprograme (aka chip) the p28 to run a DOHC program.

good to know, can u run the p28 on the dohc engine without chipping it? or will it not work at all? any idea what ecu would come with the swap when i buy it? they say it comes with engine, tranny, ECU, ect. would it be the p28?

You can run an DOHC vtec engine with an p28 unchip. It will work but you wont get the full potential. I wont recommend using it permanent...unless you are doing as an temporary fix.

All jdm engine b16 sir2 come with a p30 ecu.
