Default What would you recommend for a base?

Hi,

I'm going to be getting a daily driver and eventually I want to boost it and I hope to break into the low 14's. Anyways, what would you guys recommend for a good base to boost? I've heard that the D16Y8 is a pretty good engine to boost and I've heard that any of the Del Sol S/Si's handle boost pretty well.

What do you guys recommend?

Thanks.

Okay, thanks. Will definately check it out. I'm open to any stock motor found in any of the Civics or Del Sols of this time period though. I just want a good base to start with.

u can break into the 13s on a good tune, just depending on wat kinda set you use and how much power and boost you make, but y8s are good start

Okay, thanks. Any other motors that you would recommend for boosting over others? Or are all the stock motors about equally as good for boosting?

I really don't have a preference but I'll definately check out those engines. Thanks. Any other opinions are welcome.

The D16Z6 is OBD1 and it has a better oiling system. On 10 pounds and good driving there's no reason you can't hit high 13's

Okay, thanks. Looks like I'm looking for either the D16Z6 or the D16Y8. One final question, are these engines boosted often? I just want to make sure that if I do go this route there's going to be lots of information on these engines.

Thanks!

Probably the two most often boosted of any Honda engines, to be honest. If you have any concerns, information about those modifications to these motors shouldn't be one of them
