Default what would you do....waterpump

i just noticed that my integra was leaking coolant onto the ground. so i get underneath the car and notice its coming from the waterpump. the car has 60,000 miles on it. do you think i should just change the waterpump gasket or get a new waterpump and timing belt altogether?
$1.50 for the gasket
or $100+ for waterpump and timing belt

i know this belongs in the teg section but i have never posted there and i always post here. sorry

well if it was me if your going through all the work to just change the gasket u might as well spend a lil more and do the whole job right with a new WP & T-BELT since u have to take that all that stuff off just to do the gasket

Do the timing belt change. You're at the recommended mileage to do so, so you may as well.

If that's the case, then atleast check the timing belt. If it snaps you could be in for a large repair bill.

What if the gasket doesn't fix it and you have a bad water pump and then you have to tear the entire car down again??? Do it right the first time.

I dont know what mods you have done to your car but I change my timing belt whenever I have over 10k and I'm allready there. I do have a lot of work done to my car though and I really dont want to risk anything. I might be a little over kill but its better safe then sorry. I would atleast change the timing belt if I were you. If I had the money I would change the water pump too.

a bad water pump wont cause the coolant leak onto the ground, the gasket is what causes that. unless for some ungodly reason it has a crack in it or a big hole, of which ive never heard of happening..and i will be checking the water pump shaft play while i have it out to make sure its still good. if not then ill buy a new one. i decided to put a new timing belt on though while i have it apart. like i said above, tearing down engine doesnt bother me.

uh, yes you are right they do have weep holes, two of em.. and when the water pump gasket goes bad, coolant then begins to leak out of the weep holes.

<----- timing belt broke

1/2 week later.....

<----- timing belt tensioner siezed

2 weeks later....

<----- water pump snapped

Do it all at once. IMHO.
