What would you do?
To make a long story short. . .my car was a victim of a hit and run, I have a $1000 collision deductible, body shop wants $1500 to fix damage, I don't have $1000 to pay the deductible, so I am left with a few options:
1. Source a used door from a 92-95 Civic (are coupe and hatchback doors the same?) and then have it color matched to the rest of the car.
2. Buy just a used drivers side door shell and replace it myself.
Buying a whole new door seems like the easier option, and hopefully I can find one for around $300 used ( a hell of a lot cheaper than $1000).

get another door, if possibly just get the shell.. its prolly real cheap... my buddy bought his for 100 bucks a local junk yard and he had it repainted(along with the whole car)
but in his case he got breaded out for $1500 or so...

Re: What would you do? (DOHCtorTHRUST)
I think buying the entire door would be much easier and less hassel. I have found a junk yard called "Cherry Auto" in Ohio that has a whole bunch of drivers side doors for hatchbacks. They range from 260-550 depending on condition.
I would like to just get the shell, but I haven't been able to find a place that has a write-up on how to remove and install just the shell.
Anyone?
Also, any recommeded salvage yard locations would be greatly appreciated

Door skins are welded on, unless you can weld. You can't do it on your own.
You can try to pull the dent out and bondo it straight, but that's the worst way of doing it considering the size.
If I were you. I'd save up money get a new door skins put on and painted.

Hmm, they are welded on ehh. My cousin is quite the welder, so maybe he can lend me a hand for a weekend.
Bondo and trying to pull the dent out is DEFINITELY out of the question.
After this incident, I have now changed my collision dedcutible to $100. Maybe I will get lucky and someone will scrap the door in the same place and I can make the claim with the $100 deductible.
On a side note. . .it's all about DRIVE THRU RECORDS Homegrown is one of my favorite bands.

Used door seems good to me. Unless you want to use your $100 deductible right then and there...unfortunately, your insurance will go up.

Re: What would you do? (93SSPHatch)
I would leave it like that until I found a red door. Might take a little while but then you won't have to get it painted, and even if you did it might not match that good. That's what I did. Cost me $75.

I would get a used door but you will have to get one from a vx or cx if you dont want to put the moldings on or else you can shave all the holes.
