Default what would be a good setup b16a or b18c

*first of all i would like to say that i know every car is different and everyone has their own opinions but i would still appreciate anything you guys have to say...tia.

Ok...i was wondering which would be faster? an obd1 second gen b16a w/ itr head...jun3 cams, valves springs/retainers, cam sprockets with i/h/e and a itr tranny inside a full interior 93 dx coupe OR a bone stock b18c1 with i/h/e...i would be on a tight all motor budget. ive had a bone stock b16 before in my crx...and ive also had a 91 dx hatch with b18c1- jg head/throttlebody, hks sprockets, fpr, cai, dc 4-1 headers, and a magnaflow exhaust that hit 13.8 on street tires. i just wanna know which has more bang for the buck. thanks in advance...

In my opinion, I prefer any thing that is 1.8 or higher for mostly street driven. It has more torque. Just get the b18c and built it up later. I had a b16, b18c, b20vtec. I don't like b16 and I never will.

Well, the B18c1 does pack tight **** in each cylinder, but with all that crap on the B16 & an ITR head, that goes past the B18 w/ I,H,&E.
How ever, get that ITR, and slap it on the B18 and put roughly $4000 in that engine along w/ a big turbo, you can start owning some people on the street.

thanks for the replies guys.... im on a really tight budget...if i go the b16 route, i could get that motor with the basic bolt-ons and the rest of the stuff i mentioned by the end of this year. If i go the gsr route i would have to wait for probably 2 more months and i wouldnt be able to get the *nice* parts for it until probably next summer. im not really into turbos...dont get me wrong they're hella fast but i wanna stay all motor for now. oh yeah i forgot to mention that i would probably add ctr pistons...i dont know if that will help much.

another thing i was wondering is what do you guys estimate that the quarter mile times would be for each set up?thanks again

With a tight budget...B16, its fun, cheap, and fast. Also easy to come by.

B18c + lots of $$$$ + good light car= one hell of a fast ride. a new turbo would be nice on one of those with an ITR head.

i say save for the b18c, you'll be happy, as compared to rushing and getting the b16 and wishing you woulda went with the 1.8.

Just my 2 cents.
