He'll never beat it in traction off the line.
his best bet is radials with nitrous for the track, D.O.T. approved radials and nitrous for the street, or turbo.
That car throws down over 100 more hp at the wheels than you and only weighs 700lbs more?
You're going to hit mid-low 200's (like 220) if you wanna take him.

I have a stock b16a3 in a 1999 civic ex coupe that has been gutted and boosted at 8psi.
I rape the **** outta lightly modded WRXs, and STIs yank me by about a car...
If that helps

I drive a edm eg VTi, stock b16a2, testpipe replace on stock exhaust and overhauled engine in 2005.
My friends '99 WRX with light mods beat me with about 20 feets, from 0mph to about 75mph. The thing that makes him win is his start in first gear, since he pulls on all 4 wheels.

I beat a WRX in a rolling race in my 92 CX that has a B18C with only a few simple bolt-ons

A good driver with an STi can easily cut 1.7 60's on the street...you will never do that in a FWD on street tires...ever.
Bench racing is stupid and WRX's are slow.../thread

I know wrx's arent that fast but going against a honda it is faster, but I getting sick of all these kids in my town (and around) with wrx's that think there the **** with exhaust and maybe a boost controller. Me I want to shut the game down. Driving aint a problem for me.

Right, but you had a fully stripped out CRX - you have a HUGE weight advantage on them which simply means that you don't need as good of a launch to get ahead of them off the line.
He's only got ~600lbs or so on an STI. It's not enough for him to be putting all his nuts in the basket of a launch - because that won't win the race for him. For you it did, your car was a lot lighter, he's got a different story though, he won't out-launch them, and if he does, it'll be barely, and for not even a car before they cream him.
Try that **** with a car the same weight as an STI and your super launch won't mean dick.
PS: A lot of STI drivers suck at launching - a lot of them rely on their AWD to give them traction, so they just clutch dump, or just do shitty launches.

yeah stock wrx's are not the fastest things. they run low 14's at the track. my ex had a 02 wrx with just bolt-ons (stock turbo and stock intercooler) and she ran 13.7's all day long with a 2.0 60ft. After her upgraded turbo and fmic and a tune she was running mid 12's. and remember thats a 4 door car with full interior. you really wanna beat up on something shoot for sti's and evo's.

sti's and evo's are a totally different class of car, it's cool to want to beat more of a pure sports car with a daily driver, but why not shoot to see what you can do against some faster honda products?

Re: (Since 1983)
From what I see around my town is there isnt alot of honda's. The most common car around is the not sti's but wrx's, Evo's on the other hand there is alot but only a few know how to drive and launch. I can't remember if all evo's have the 2 step launch control.
