What is usual cost for a Civic?
I might be wanting to buy a 92-95 Civic coupe in the near future (what is that...EK? Forgive my ignorance)
What is a price that is deemed reasonable for a bone stock, say Ex. 5spd., not necessarily in 'mint' condition? I'm on the East Coast (NC) if it makes a difference.

92-95 Civics are Eg's but check out http://www.kbb.com for the price quotes. Your gonna need some information like...milege, condition the car is in, and all the accessories that are on it for an accurate quote.

shouldnt pay more than 4000, for a clean one. thats ex of course. a dx would be no more than 2800. But mileage plays a huge factor.

well around here in birmingham, they go for 4500 all day with 155k miles on them. lx or ex models. they just love to rip us off here in alabama. hell i payed 3700 for my 94 ex 5spd with 125k miles on it. and that was cheap compared to the others i seen. ohh well i got ripped.

Same here! Stock cars with 170k miles plus were going for $5000! So I ended up buying a b16a hatch with suspension and minor mods for $3500. Pretty clean car, need some paint and wheels and lip and such but I'll have a lot more than I would have buying a junker for 5 g's.

i got my 93 si new factory paint, 4500 bucks, had 70k miles on it, absolutely no rust, no dings no nothing, it was in prefect shape, came with wheels and brand new tires. And it came with a set of snow tires on steelies. I think i got a great deal

their actually Ej's since its a coupe , I got my 00 Civic for $7500 with 90,000 miles. soo....cheaper than that I suppose.

From looking around, it seems that I may actually get a better price for an already modded vehicle (=more stuff to sell when I put on what I want)
I'm not really too particular what engine is in it because it will be swapped anyways, but I would like to have something with most or all of the little things like power windows and locks. The sohc vtec would have been kind of nice...my Neon is likely a lot faster than any model EJ.

It is, especially if you have a DOHC Neon.
If you want a Honda, you'll end up paying the "Honda tax." They carry a price premium because they are always in demand and are known for their reliability. Neons and Cavaliers, on the other hand, are a dime a dozen and depreciate like nobody's business - so you can find them on the cheap all the time (1st-gen DOHC Neons are great bang-for-the-buck tuner cars). It's a very different world.

I haven't paid more than 1k for any one of my hatches and I've had 3.
92 Blue DX Hatch, motor ran decent but needed some minor work, needed a hood and the rear QP had more than alittle rust, interior was good. $750. Fixed the body, put an LS in it, turboed it later. Crashed.
93 Red Cx Hatch, very minor rust (repaired now), Driver seat was horrible (replacing with a teg set probably), motor burned oil so I blew it up and stuck an LS in it. $800
92 White Vx Hatch, very minor rust (havent fxed it yet), small dent (pulled it), motor runs needs an o2 sensor and cat (have it but haven't done it yet), interior is near perfect. $900, Different Turbo-LS is sitting in the garage for it.
I travelled a nice little distance for em, I live in central Jersey, 1 was in buffalo, another in New Hampshire, and one in CT.

coupes should be easier to get than hatches. as i mentioned in another post, hatches sell like hotcakes here in NorCal.
i think the region/locality determines the resale value of the car. what you can get for $3K in one place could be had for $2500 in another.
KBB pricing is a good indicator overall, but there are markets with unusual demand that would drive up the price.

a decent one around here mind u its canada is about 5-7 g's but u can get them as low as 3-4 g's. One of the cheapest ive seen is a 94 ex coupe with 400000k on it for 3200 canadian

kbb.com, but ya, for some reason hondas in general tend to be overpriced almost always......ocassionally you find a good deal, but ya, 92-95 civics especially are almost ALWAYS overpriced.
