What type of head do i have? N00B with a wrench.... HA
I am in the process of learning my new 1994 del sol. This board has been a wealth of knowledge, i thank you all. Going in to replace my valve seals, i get this far. I can't seem to remove the cam shaft. Do i need loosen the timing belt and slide it off.... marking both the wheel and the belt.... on position? Do i need to remove anything on the distributor? I hope not.....
Also, car odometer says 86K miles, body looks like 285K, and engine has junkyard white paint.... "93 civic 1.5" across the valve cover. ECU has a local salvage shop stock number on it....
So... my question(s) is/are... In addition to the above, What head is this? The engine says d15b7. I read about the same head is a certain size bolt, however, i am using 12mm bolts to remove the camshaft.....
Thanks in advance....
ryan

That is a D15B7 (d15 head) (b7 block).
If you are replacing the seals you will need to pull the cam cradle off. Make sure your engine is at TDC before and after the installation. The cam pulley comes off via that bolt on it. After the cradle is off, it is pretty self explanatory from there. You will have to pull the distributor off as well as it is attached to the camshaft. Don't worry about putting the distributor back on wrong, it only fits one way.
Hope this helps!

Thanks Ev94eg and thenext! I appreciate the info....
Kyden, looked up the helms manual... great information. thanks. haynes is crap compared to the helms info.
upon further research/discussions with more advanced mechanics, looks like i am going to swap engines... looks like my problem isn't the valve seals, but piston rings. I plan on swapping engines and breaking this one down for knowledge.
Since i am using 1 qt of oil per 100 miles..... despite engine running flawlessly..... piston rings seems to be the culprit. I spoke to a guy who worked for honda for 20 yrs... he said that if you pried all exhaust valve seals out... then maybe the engine would loose 1 qt per 100 miles.... (he was being sarcastic)... but he didn't see anyway the oil would be leaking that fast through the seals....
Thanks all.

Why go out and buy a shop manual when you can just download it for free?

Try repalcing the seals under the valve train they keep oil from getting in to the cylinder if this is the problem youll usually have lots oil on the plugs, (no i dont mean spark plug grommets)
