What tool to cut fender for side markers?
I want to install side markers on my eg. looking at the sidemarkers/templates, i need to cut a rectangle out of my fenders. I was wonder what tool i would use to do this. Im looking for like a dremel like thing with a wheel that cuts into metal, such as a fender, as i would need this tool for many other uses. ive had dremel tools in the past and they are a piece of ****, no power and the bits always broke, like the sanding ones and ****. Any suggestions?

i cant recall what the name of it is, but this is what you should be using to cut or make nice straight cuts on thin metal. if anyone knows what the name is let me know. i havent used it for years, hence cant recall what the name is.. LOL
you make a hole in the center of your sidemarker outline and then you stick the tip in and start cutting the metal out to the lines of your outline. it cuts small square cuts. it will not chip the paint... atleast when i used it years ago it never did. and when it cuts its very smooth and cuts easily and no strain on the fingers.
if you want it i can sell it aswell since i do not need it...
sorry if the photos are too big...

I had to cut a hole for for my sidemarker light in my replacement fender with a dremel and a drill. It took me 6 hours. It was the most painful 6 hours of my life....

its not that hard, try doing something thats more challenging like suspension work or a tranny rebuild

i also have to cut a hole behind the fender, on the frame part, just below the door/ window sil because i tried installing a new antenna and it got jammed on that corner and ive tried everthing so far, so i figure this is the only way. is there a cutting tool that will cut that thick of metal?

let me know if your going to use the nibbler. $10 shipped. it really is easy and you can make straight clean cuts.

sounds to me like using the metal nibbler would be a lot easier than the dremel i used for mine...everyone who used it seems to have had no problems...my sidemarker install was a pain in the ***. haha.
