Not to be a ********, but can you be any more vague in your question?

If you do indeed have an EM1, why do you want to swap out the existing B16a2? How much money do you want to spend and what are you whp goals? We see this same exact question 104234324 times a day from trial users so please provide us with more information before this becomes a pissing contest between the K and the B

you can do that with your current engine. **** you could do that with a sohc if you knew what you were doing...

i think 400 with sohc is a little exaggerated.
but what i suggest i s dropping a b20z block under that head.

not exaggerated. its been done multiple times. but like i said, you have to know what you are doing and how to spend your money. now a b20vtec is imo not the best solution- ive yet to see one last a while and not cost a lot of money lol. ls/vtec maybe, then again im just not a fan of the b20/vtec so to each his own.

ok im confused about the sohc talk. he has a 2000 SI. its not a single cam, its a b16a2. best swap is none. why spend $4500 on a jdm what ever to gain 20hp over stock. that a total waste of money that could be spent on boost, or an engine build.

So far we have this info...

1. B16a2 /w B16 trans (stock for EM1's)
2. WHP goal of 400
3. Budget of 4500-500

With all of the above info I would look into purchasing a bare B16a2 block for cheap (I have seen them for $100 /w internals) and building that up to run 400whp. It doesnt have to be a crazy build.

buy another motor on the side and build it up for boost. all you need is some rods and pistons for the block with the stock bore and some valvetrain for the head. thats good for 15 psi daily. get a gsr block or not a LS and any vtec head you want. build it then stick it in your car with a turbo kit

how bout just get an LS block then build the block first before you put it in with the b16 head...then there goes your LS/vtec with b16 tranny

but if it blows up down the road, then you wouldnt have the original motor to put back in

your b16a is pretty good enough..if u want to go for better swap..i would only go with ITR b18c5... or CTR b16b
and trust me..u dont want a 400 HP for a FF car

Let's get a quick rundown:

1. New member with 0 posts
2. Has "$4,500-$5,000" to play with
3. Wants 400hp
4. Wants to know what a GS-R "wit" a B16 head will run

I've forgotten/skipped more topics like this in the past few years than I care to try and remember, and you know what? Maybe 1 out of 100 actually have the money and follow through with any sort of build or swap.

Sorry to be a dick, but these are exactly the type of topics that ramble on for pages and waste everyone's time. People will get into heated arguments about what engine, build, etc. etc. and in the end the OP never does anything.
