well it all depends what your goals are. imho i would say stay away from the b16 cuz its kinda pricey and slow. lol.. for example for a full ls swap its 1k tops and your cars running, depending on car it will run pretty decentand spend another 700 tops and do a ls/vtec and it will be faster than a gsr but also could be less reliable in my opinion. i have a 93 hatch with a low compression build ls but no turbo yet and it outruns b16s in my car and i have ls tranny. or you could save money and just buy a gsr if you wanna stay b series.

well what are your power goals? and thats only if you do all the work yourself are you somehow scoring a 2k low mileage not beat to hell lsvtec.
not to mentino the block ALONE cost 2k. idk where you get 1k for everything ecu, axles, mounts. so far that plan is garbage.
i had a b16a SIR2 bought, LSD equipped, and installed for 2800k. so you have 800 to change that to a vtec and still put it in a car.
to the op. once again what are you looking for? if you just want a quick little DD, the torque monster of an ls vtec probably isn't what your lookin for. but if you wanna haul ***** it would be.
i won't say stay away from b16s, but thats also cuz i really like mine. underrated is my game. but they have almost no torque and thats a little disappointing. d-111tq b16-116tq(thats only if you get a JDM engine.) otherwise it doesn't change.
but either a b18c1 or c5 is probably your best bet for what you'll want.

That's what I got. GSR with B16 tranny. Bought from hondamarketplace for $2K, including engine, transmission, ECU, axles, 2 sets of mounts, wiring harness, etc. Complete swap. That was 2 years ago, and probably slightly higher than what they're going for now.
