Having never actually seen the civic flywheel I dont know what type it is...
Two Step? Single Step? Flat?

Im trying to call shops to have mine resurfaced soon but without knowing what type it is, its hard to find one (since not all places can do dual/single step)

Usually at the shop we just hit it with the wizzer wheel nice and light just to get the rust off, once the shine comes through stop cleaning that spot. You really don't have to put your out money for someone else to do it. If it's that bad get a new one, the problem with sending it out is, the pins that allign the flywheel may get cut off.

Now you can't say you haven't seen one!!!! My advice Get a new one while your in there...

I know what a flywheel looks like... I havent seen them in person or at the proper angle to tell what the step is. I am only assuming its single step.

Im not buying a new one...mine isnt cracked or warped..."Its still good!"
Im sinking as little money into this fix as possible, however, I do want a machine shop to resurface and level the thing.

Thanks for the bump, but I found a place that can do them all. I'll ask them what it is when I take it in.
If someone chimes in with the correct info, cool...but if not no biggie.

Im waiting for the input shaft bearing to arrive first though...so it could be next weekend at the soonest.
Stupid dealership blows my mind. They stock the oil seal, but not the bearing. Thats like saying "We have all these cars for sale...but no keys."

At least you did the smart thing and went to the dealership first. I had Advance Auto order me 3 ISBs before I broke down and went to the dealership because none of them they ordered were even close to right.

My reasoning was since Advance was right down the road and the dealership was 30 minutes away, I'd save myself some time. After 2 weeks of having the tranny torn down I finally decided that probally wouldnt be happening agian.

I went to autozone, murrays, advance...they didnt have it and I dont like ordering from those places.
Guess I got lucky
