When I installed my short shifter, I used this site
http://importnut.net/shifter.htm

Pics are easier to see than the other site but their both great writeups.

easy stuff man...first take out the screws holding up the shiter assembly on your car(2 12 or 10mm screws) take the shift linkage screw off(connected to shifter). there should be another black rod going to the transmission so unbolt that from the transmission and take the shifter unit out. there should be two other screws on the side of the shifter so you need to get a 12mm wrench and hold it or use pliers to hold that and take another 12mm socket and twist the bolts off. before you proceed remember where everything sits! very important. then take the black boot off the shifter...dont rip any of it or your shifter is going to rattle like mine. . then all you gotta do is grease the part that connects to the ball and slide everything back on...pretty simple. or you could read the installation thingy.

no sweat thing man... all u have to do is where ur center console is take that part out where ur e-brake is at. jack up ur car so that u can go under it where ur shift linkage is at and u might need to people to do this... follow where ur shift linkage end at not at the tranny but under ur car... there will be some screws that u will need to take off and two rubber thing on the side of the shifter... unsrew it and when it comes to the top top screw u might need ur brother or a friend to use a monkey wrench to hold the screw from the inside of ur shifting boot... after that just installed ur new short shifter and put everything back together...remeber do not put the shifter backward or u will have a wierd short shiter...hehe

then yes you need to get under the car. you will need to take out your center console to drop the rubber boot seal. The reason some techs say you dont need to get under the car they are assuming you have "cable" shifter. but civics dont have this system. instead you have your shift lever that pushes a a rod that changes the gear.. If you had a cable system their would be a small adapter that attaches to your stock shiftlever(withn the car) instead your car gets a whole new shift lever that changes the degree of angle and height of the lever...

ps if that doesnt make sense sorry its earlier

Just give it a try. I remember I actually wanted to bring it to a shop to install because I hated going under my car (always get head rush because my driveway is unleveled). However the shop didnt pick up the phone so I said **** it, and just installed it myself. Once you get under there, you'll see how easy it really is. Good luck
