What are skunk2 extended wheel studs use for? Just wondering if anyone know their exact racing purpose?

Wheel spacers.
When you start monkeying around with a stock suspension by adding performance parts, you sometimes cause new problems - wider wheels sometimes rub the inner fender. Some brake upgrades work better if you use wheel spacers (specifically, upgrading to the Type R brakes is a lot less hassle if you can add a 5mm wheel spacer to each side).
The wheel spacer moves the rim futher from the hub, but this of course causes ANOTHER problem, which is that the studs are now too short to apply proper torque and clamping force. THUS - extended wheel studs were born.
These are "fixes" for the problems performance changes can introduce to a car chassis.

When I installed some integra rear discs, I also got the ARP extended wheel studs pressed into my hub. They are better than Skunk2 studs. They tend to be a little brittle and weak.
I needed them anyway for the 5 mm spacer I have on both sides for my Kosei K1's.

A little OT but, how much would it be to get some extended studs installed, given the fact that the hubs and the whole suspension is still on the car. Oh yea, for all four also. Anybody know?

for me it was $25 for two hubs.
I also removed the hub from the car and gave it to the machine shop to have them pressed in.
so it would be $50 total.
taking the hub off is actually really easy, at least it is for the rear.

drive safe,

doing the fronts is not so easy. Figure on replaceing the front wheel bearings while you are at it.
