i don't know about you but i'd keep looking unless you like the paint because a decent paint job is gonna cost around $800-1500 depending on how long you want that paint job to last

Go drive the car.

That will let you decide whether it is in good shape or not.

Never buy a car before you test drive/look it over for rust, dents, etc.

thanks for all u who have replied. . .anyone know how to tell if a odometer has been rolledback? i heard most the time the numbers are misaligned? anyone know about this at all?

yes but he may not take that if you just offer what you need to do is have the money in hand and tell him thats all you have but bring 2800 just in case but looks good just when and if you get it lose the rims and paint it black

i just looked at car and offerd 2.5k he said he would take it. one question tho he changed the motor over and now its throwing codes. he said its cause some of the sensors are different. does this sound right to u guys? i dont really have the cash to get it professionally checked.

Pls get back to me on this one im not sure if i want this car now

If its throwing codes and he has a swapped motor in it....sounds to me like you will be getting a basket case. One that you are going to have to put a lot of cash into to get it fixed right. What motor did he put in it? Does he have paper work to prove that the motor is legit? What codes is it throwing ? Who did he have do the swap? Once you get the answers let us know. I wouldn't offer him more then 1800 with the problems he told you about. Remember the KB value is based off of poor to excellent condition and excellent condition is factory paint (showroom quality) with all service records and low mileage.

Well more info would help. Did he say what engine? Throwing codes isn't always a terrible thing, but you should definately figure out what codes its throwing.

Sounds to me like this guy hacked the car up a little too much for my liking. I would pass and look for another car. Unless you plan on buying it with the intention of making a huge project out if it (in that case 2,500 is too much). Basically, if the car is in good running condition and it is not hacked up, 2,500 is decent. If the engines gonna need to be replaced etc, you shouldn't pay more than 1,000.

guess ill pull the codes and make sure its not throwing tons of them and buy it. i hate feeling like im bieng taken it seems to run really good tho. he told me he buys them alot from auctions and resales gave me references of others who knows if its his friends etc or not tho.

Why wouldent u pay a dime over 1g for it? a reason why may sway my judgement but im guessing on a online board like this there will always be a few negative people to come ruin it with 2 letters like

"x2" A reason why should be entered in here!

bodys str8 as can be. . . interior is in pretty damn condition he cleaned it up alot since that picture. 106K miles. new clutch not slutty at all. ran really good it seemed. id say the body alone is worth 1k

it really depends on which codes it's throwning and what the swap and wiring looks like under the hood and dash. if it's a cluster f'k of a rats nest then you're diving into a nightmare of rewiring hell.
If he did the swap right and everything looks OEM quality it could be a simple sensor that's bad.

If he's willing to fix the CEL issue then it's all good, if not it knocks $$ off the offer. the condition of what I mentioned above is what determins how much to knock off.

My reason? it's not worth more than that. Thus why I said I wouldn't pay more than said amount for it.

if you are going to spend 2.5k i would find a stock car and do the work yourself, that way you know what kind of quality work was put into the car

if it is something that you really want and don't worry about the time and money it will take to get the car back up to par then go for it. I wouldn't show up with 2500, only offer like 2000 but come with the cash in hand. See what he does if he doesn't bite tell him what you have to do to the car to get it up to spec and what kind of money you are looking at. if he doesn't know that your uncle has a shop DON'T TELL HIM and play it off like you'll have to pay a grand to get it panted and replace the window, see what he does. Good luck man!
