What should I do to my 93 Ex Civic Coupe?

What should I do to my 93 Ex Civic Coupe?
I'm on a pretty tight budget of around 1000-1500$ and deciding on what I should do to my civic ex.
Trying to balance between making it look nice/making it better performance wise.
Any suggestions/places where I can order some cheap parts to make it faster.
I was looking at ordering some halogens and new tail lights, rims and low profile tires from a website, but would like to know you're guys' suggestions before ordering them.
I'm not mechanically inclined, I mean I can change some stuff on my car but adding in a whole new engine, or messing with mine, I wont be able to do that.
Here is what I was planning so far for looks:
Black and red rims:

New halogens:

Tail-lights:
http://www.carid.com/1993-honda-civi...-12131396.html
As for performance wise, I don't even know where to start, I want my car to go fast but I don't want it to randomly break down in the middle of the street because of my upgrades.
Please guide me in the right direction of what I should do to my civic, because if I seriously get passed by a slow-lica again, I may loose it...
Thanks hopefully someone has a cheap parts website

If it has the stock motor and you are not inclined to build it or swap it, just leave it alone. Tune it up and try to get the most mpg out of it.
Then concentrate on the old and worn suspension. With your budget, it is the best bang for the buck work you can do. $1500 is not much to work with at all. Make wise decisions and dont impulse buy.

No way to make that engine "fast" without a turbo (out of your budget). You can swap in a b16 which supposedly isn't as hard as you think. I mean, these are the easiest cars to engine swap. They're made to engine swap. Why do you think the hood stands straight up on the second notch?

hmotors online is where I would personally invest in a swap as I am a 3 time purchaser from them and wont go anywhere else. Dont waste your money trying to do bolt on's to that z6. Many learn the hard way and sooner or later, find out its a complete waste.

This is a tech forum, not a opinion forum. You can find that on FB. Take the time to read through this forum. Look at some build to give you an idea of what your getting into. When you google, you can type civic motor swaps honda tech and plenty of reading material will pop up. Btw welcome to the forum. You can learn as much as you want about Hondas here.

Go here....
http://www.hmotorsonline.com/shop/sc...USDM%20Engines
Your stock motor a d16z6, if its the original and wasn't replaced.
Intake, header, and exhaust, as well as other "bolt on" mods, will not make the car noticeably quicker...AT ALL.

No on the tail lights, headlights, and rims. Buy some new oem/depo ones or clean yours up. Much better wheels can be had on a budget, like rotas or konigs (flame away, just a suggestion). Will look much cleaner than that rice stuff.
If your budget is only $1000-1500, do a major tune up, new bulbs all around, new tires and alignment, general maintenance and wash/wax/full detail and call it a day. My headlights + retrofit cost almost nearly $1000, my suspension was about $3500, etc. etc, $1500 let alone is nothing in making the car go "fast", not to mention, issues that may come up in a swap or turbo build, broken parts, blah blah blah.
If you REALLY have to modify your car, spend your money on a QUALITY suspension set up and make your car handle like a dream. Power is only half the equation, the only real exception in my opinion is only on a legit drag strip, not street racing like a yahoo. Cheap and reliable do not mix, unless you are getting killer deals on good used parts. Buy cheap, do it twice. Buy once, cry once.

OP if you had the dx model, which should be the lighter of the eg coupes since it doesn't have sunroof and power door locks/mirrors than the route should be a high compression b20b and a b16 transmission. You'll have a blast for 1600 at least. I suggest you do maintenance to the motor and tranny before dropping it in because there will be hard to reach places later on.
