What should I do first?
Hi.. I am probably going to be buying a 94 Civic CX HatchBack soon here, for my first car. (I'm turning 16 this summer).
And I was wondering what I should upgrade on it first? Should I do the headers, the exaust, the intake, what?
[edit] I should also add that I have no idea about cars, so this is also a way for me to learn about them too.[/edit]
Thanks,
Ted

If you are seriously planning on getting into this scene, save the money for a swap. The CX engine isnt worth its weight in sh*t so dont mod it. If nothing else, swap in a 92-95 Si motor. Cheap and a gain of like 50+ hp. Just my $.02.

Yes it would be better in the long run to swap the engine. You should work on the suspension aspects of the car for now...springs/shocks, wheels/tires, etc. You'll spend quite a bit of money on the engine and it prob won't even be up to par with the cheaper swaps.

I agree. Suspension parts will stay no matter what engine you pick, so if you arent down with doing a swap, get a nice coilover\shock combo, or spring\shock combo if you dont have the extra cash. Also strut\sway\tie bars are always fun. Let us know if you need any more advice. This place is FULL of knowledgable people.

I think the first thing you should get it a Factory service manual. http://helminc.com

No upgrades, go to a driving school and learn to properly drive. Upgrade wheels and shocks and compete in autocrosses. Then when you get some money and know how to drive - go for a swap.

ok actually, I just founf out that 94 has like 217,000km on it, so I'm gonna try for 92 DX with 141,000km on it.. and yeah.. I was planning on the driver school.
The problem with the suspension thing is that I can't lower it since I live in the country and at 30 mph I have to drive on gravel for a minute and a half to reach pavement..

I had looked at trucks, but I don't like the way they look, and I really hate driving trucks.
What kinds of benefits would stiffer suspension give me anyway?
