What should I do with this civic?
I am trying to decide what to do with this car. Its a 94 ex with abs, etc. Fixing it would seem to cost a lot of money. I was thinking of parting it out. How much would that bring in? What do you do with a shell? Blah.

What happened to your windshield? Vandals?
I would fix it and get a carbon fiber hood, fiberglass fenders and a urethane front bumper. As long as you have the title and don't owe money on it the insurance company should make the check out directly to you.
You won't get much parting it out.. you got a D16Z6 and a rear disc conversion totaling $1200 plus the other junk and maybe you get another $800 for $2k total? I don't know many people that want to start out with a heavy EX shell either..

The airbag broke the windshield.
No collision coverage = no insurance money.
CF hood + fenders + bumper + airbags + radiator? + windshield = how much? A hell of a lot in my mind. I am thinking that $1200 is looking good.

BUY A CLEAN HATCH OR COUPE AND SWAP STUFF OVER.IT WILL COST MORE TO PULL THE FRAME,BUY PARTS AND PAINT THEN TO BUY A CLEAN CAR AND PUT YOUR PARTS ON IT.

Re: (Butler)
Well if that's what you reeeeealy want...
Go post your parts in the classified section at:
https://honda-tech.com/zeroforum?id=10
Items of value (I'm just guessing numbers here):
$900 You have a D16Z6 motor with transmission (Or part out the tranny, head and block)
$150 P28 ECU (One of the most mod friendly ECU's there is)
$300 Rear disc brake conversion to fit 92-95 Civics. (With ebrake cables and brake lines)
$60 EX gauge cluster with tach
Also sell the wheels, the seats and anything else people are willing to buy. Announce that the whole car is available for parts.
Some caveats...
If the car is automatic, the transmission and ECU will be worth less. Also does anybody know if the ABS system makes the rear brakes incompatible with non-ABS cars?

or how about, you go to a local junkyard and wait till they get a car in w/ a blown engine, and pick it up for 500 bucks - swap everything out of that car.. and there you have it, a decent looking car, you didnt have to fix, with a perfectly good engine?

the car has unknown mileage, the cluster says 80k but it looks a lot older. i would like to sell the engine and tranny together, and i have someone local who wants the rear brakes.

that could take a while... and i don't trust myself to do a good job... and how do you get a non running car around? pay for a tow truck? that gets expensive if i have to move a junkyard car to my house, swap, and move the junk car to the junkyard. another $200+ in towing costs

Re: (Butler)
Alot of those numbers people valued things at are quite un-realistic. you're only looking at maybe
$600 for the engine,tranny,axles,shift linkage
$150 for the ecu if its a manual $5 if its auto
$250 for the rear disc
The rest is pocket change.
