I am wanting to build a N/A D16 y8, but the problem is everyone is telling me to just do a swap.Well in my opinion everyone does a swap point blank.I want something different and unique.But not so different its going to cost me five thousand dollars either.I though about doing a mini me, but not to sure yet.So i figured i would ask for your guys opinion.Thanks.

if you want to do a NA D series build and get any power whatsoever to even compete with a b series its going to take alot of mods, parts and tuning. the last b series killer d build i saw was running something like 13:1 compression, h beam rods, balanced crank, fully built head etc etc. a 3500 or so dollar build. had to be run or high octane fuel only, probably race gas preferable. it made something like 161whp. a stock b series will make almost that and with some bolt ons and a tune will beat it...especially with torque.

OK well really what i want is something with a little power i don't wanna go out there and chap every car i see and be stuck up because none can compete.I just want something that people will notice when i show them what i got.I mean all in all i might boost it if i have to.What would be the best thing to do boost it, or swap it?

Thats not being unique!!! an by the way i dont want to insult you but with 5 grand u can build a boosted b series an be 5 times faster u gota b an idiot to drop 5 grand into a single cam that can just get spanked by a b-series with bolt ons

I never said i wanted to drop five grand in it.I said that i DON'T want to spend five grand like some people actually do.

I'm saying if everyone thinks that it is going to be too much of a waste of time to do a N/A d then im goin to boost/swap it.That's why im here in the first place to ask opinions.I said that i am thinking about doing a N/A.If your here to bash just go to another thread im trying to get serious help.

Boost the d series..i do believe i hear the d series is better for boost anyway!

I would boost the Y8 ^^ Just tune it as a daily you'll be fine with stock internals I made 210 with mine :D

I'm in the Nashville area in tn where is a good place to get a good tune at for boost?

for under $5000, I'd boost it and maybe swap the tranny out for a b16/B18C1 tranny.

D-series are very good motors for boost. You can get a fairly quick car with a d-series with stock internals on a little bit of boost, for a fairly cheap price.
