What sensor is this?
On my b16a2 intake there is a white sensor that goes inside it. What is this? Reason I ask is I bought another IM and TB used for a b16a2 and this one doesn't have the holes for it but it is still in the casting. Do I need this and what does it do. A honda parts site labled it as a TA sensor, is the like a air temp or what.

Re: (arcboy)
I'm not positive, but I think the one I have pictured above (the white one) is only on OBD1 B16s while the OBD2 B16s used this type of IAT, which is on the intake arm itself

Re: (arcboy)
IAT should be in your intake not your IM.

Why is that? Mine is in the IM from the factory. I could see that it might pick up a little more heatsoak there than in the intake, that would be the only reason I see. |
To the OP. Why are you changing IM? THe newer models are the ones with the IAT in the intake not the IM.

I dont know what car you have or the year or anything so maybe its diffrent on your car. On my d16y8 it was in the intake pipping. On my b16 it was also in the intake. |

the vacume line is broke off on the IM that goes to the fuel pressure regulator breather. You can see it broke off in the pic right above the IAT. The only way to fix it is to take it iff drill it out and put new one in. I also have the older firewall mounted MAP. So I bought a used IM and TB to repalce the other. The new one has the TB mounted MAP and the IM is not broke. For right now I a leaving the broke IM on and have it JB welded close. The new TB has solved my TPS and Map codes that I was having issues with. I am planning on trading for an EG Saturday. I'll see if that goes down and go from there.
