Default What are the risk?

im thinking to trade my 2000 ex auto 91k (bluebook: $7000, clear title) clean, bonestock

for this:

http://www.houston-imports.com...06915

rebuild title, carfax say might be flooded (but with the new motor, wont be a problem?)

Straight trade is a bad idea?

i dont have much experience about rebuild motors. will the motor mess me up in the long run?

Help me out guys. thanks alot

and: i got $1 CARFAX, let me know.

i would be timid from the title condition, i would take it to a performance import shop with a good reputation and have them go over everything. make sure it was built properly, any wiring problems, suspension problems frame damage, etc. also have them perform a compression/leakdown test to see the condition of the engine.

YOU DO NOT WANT TO BUY A FLOOD DAMAGED CAR! PERIOD!

even if it has a 'new' motor in it, you'll have all sorts of problems as long as you own it.

Ever single last car that has ever come into my shop that has suffered flood damage does not run right, does not work right, and is a money pit.

I personally would not take one thank you.

I wouldn't touch a flood damaged car. There are so many other cars that would also fit what you're looking for and not be such a risk.

Possible problems I can think of:
- LOTS of electrical issues
- Smell (they clean them, but if you lift the carpet you might find mud, sand, silt or salt under there)
- Rust
- Mildew (can be really hard to get rid of)

Parts that I can think of that might have issues or need replacing because of submersion.
- Upholstery (mildew, rust on springs)
- Carpeting (mildew)
- Wiring (corrode or crack)
- Headliner (water soluble adhesive holds to ceiling, also could get moldy)
- Seat belts (I don't want to think of what salt and such could do to these)
- Speakers (electrical issues, mildew)
- Undercarriage (corrode, paint damage)
- Frame (Dirt you can never remove from creases and seams, high water could have pushed the car into something or something into the car too)
- Electrical components such as exterior lighting, wipers, turn signals, 12V, clock, radio/CD player, heater, dash lights
- A/C components (decay in vents, electrical issues, mildew)

mold and mildew is the devil. i used to have a jeep that had mold and mildew and they only way i got rid of it was by replacing the entire interior and i mean dash carpet seats blower motor and everything and i worked for a lil while until it rained again. i personally wouldnt do it but i dont like buying other peoples projects. theres gotta be a reason as to y hes selling it. salvage title

IMHO...... salvaged cars should stay just that. I owned a salvaged car before, due to a front end collision. The car NEVER looked right, and I could never get my money back out of it. This is not to mention the countless problems that I had with it mechanically, this thing went through more motor mounts than any other 5 cars... and this one is a flood damaged car? -no way-

anywayse, its your call. but my opinion, keep your clean titled car till you find another clean titled car to trade for.
