want to put hid kit in ek civic
whats sup yall got 00 civic so i know i need the h4 setup for hid's.
ive had many sets but they were all cheap maximas. im trying to figure out what i should get that will be really bright and look good at the same time. i want a purpleish color. all of my past kits were blue then once the bulbs warmed stayed white. i want a kit that will stay purple and be very bright. without using projectors in my headlights. and another question. whats the diffrence between 6-12k
the higher the k for example 120000k is the lights dimmer but more color or lower the k 60000 is really bright but color is white.
i just need some help and any info would help thanks

Re: want to put hid kit in ek civic (Jon V)
most of them go to a whiteish purple after they have been warmed up......im not too sure about any of them staying really purple i would think that would be pointless i like the bright white it helps me see the ground at night...........

Re: want to put hid kit in ek civic (civicrida3)
The glare is the reason HID kits were banned. The HIGHER the rating on the lights means LESS light output to the ground. I would not buy ANY KIT that is more than 5000k. All factory HID in cars come at 4200k. I would retro your lights with projectors and ditch the glare.

yeah, sorry for the huge pics....
thats the way i'd do it if I could do it over agin.
but I think it looks ok. I'm gonna get some 5000k HIDs for my foglights.

Re: (EL'ation)
ummm no, the temp at which the bulb burns gives you the color! and no they are not 42000 cause that would be so high it would burn the housing and scorch the retna's of oncoming peoples eyes. I would say no more than 7k

LOL, you have no idea.
The color temperature is COLOR temperature. No matter how high the number is, they operate as hot as the lower COLOR temperature.
The TL bulbs are no higher than 4,300K. I say again, it's the projector gives that purple flash, not the bulb. It just appears as purple, but light on the ground is white not like the 8,000K shitty rice bulbs.
P.S. Can you please take those huge pictures away?
It's out of focus too.

Re: want to put hid kit in ek civic (civicrida3)
if you going to stay with OEM (reflective) housings see this thread
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1064543 <--- only one page
for the color you are looking for - I have found philips ultinon bulbs (6000k) will do the trick.
here are some pics of them in a eg with euro clear housings from Apex i ITR's car (i have the same bulbs but color didn't come out in my pics as true as in his pics)
warmed up
they can be purchased from http://www.hid-online.com/hidonline/ or on ebay - expect to pay about $250 just for the bulbs. They are philips OE so you know the quality is there
here on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...=WDVW

ahhhh no it isn't a **** load of glare....autolamps-online / hid-online have one of the best kits out there look at the pics
THIS IS A SHITLOAD OF GLARE
autolamps kit - this is NOT a shitload of glare
pics of the same kit in my 2000 hatch w/ oem CTR headlamps (pls note - difference in "whiteness" setting on camera
EDIT - for BEST RESULTs 1 to 3 (best to worst)
1.) Retrofit OEM HID projectors into stock housings - this will provide crisp clean cutoff, wide covereage, minimal or no hotspots
2.) retrofit HID in reflective housings and use proper glare shielding
3.) just stick HID bulb in your stock housing like first pic in my (this) post & have glare everywhere & blind on coming traffic

Re: want to put hid kit in ek civic (adirondackR)
Maybe I exagerated a bit, but there is still glare over cutoff.
Here's what did:
... and output (note when pic was taken, lamps weren't leveled out completely, and it's not even ground - so they don't aim too high - they are aimed properly).

Yep.. people with HID's in stock housings and no shielding should be beat to death

Re: want to put hid kit in ek civic (Nick7)
I had the H4 kit with the shield. It didn't cause any or nearly no glare but the beam pattern really sucked.
This is the pic of H4 5,000K bulb in stock housing with the shield. Bad quality picture but you see the hot spots everywhere.
Same car with Audi projectors and 4,300K bulb. Very even wide spread light
