Default What is this plug?

Hey all,

So I have a non-functioning gas gauge, and since I had some spare time today, I figured I'd pull the cluster, check connections, etc. Once I pulled the cluster and disconnected the two large, blue harnesses and the smaller yellow and green harnesses, I noticed a 5th harness in the area behind the cluster. It's roughly the size of the yellow and green ones, but it's orange. On the back of the cluster the connections are of course color coded, 2 blue, 1 yellow, 1 green...0 orange. Does this plug actually need to be connected to anything, and what is it actually supposed to do/go to (if anything). I'm assuming Honda put it there for a reason, I just have no idea what. Pics are below for reference.

Also, this is a 2000 Civic EX, stock motor, but the PO hacked some stuff up pretty bad, so every time I work on the damn thing I find some other surprise that he left for me to fix.

Orange is used for ABS.

Interesting...it wasn't plugged in when I pulled the cluster, there doesn't seem to be anywhere to plug it in, and my ABS light isn't on. Any idea where it should plug in?

That's because yours doesn't have the module. Compare:FS/FT: Ek Civic EX cluster WITH TACH So naturally the light won't be on. Does the car have ABS?

Being a 2000 I thought federal regulations required it to have ABS. I do see the difference in my cluster and the one you linked to. The fact that it's not plugged in and there's nothing to plug into isn't a big deal since (almost) everything seems to be functioning normally. More than anything else, I was curious about what it was and what it was supposed to do.

Great. Was more concerned the P.O. dicked around with your cluster and swapped it with one that didn't have the ABS indicator.

I'm not ruling that out as a possibility considering how many other things he screwed up.

Check the link at the bottom of my sig for fuel indicator troubleshooting. Also check what the factory installed cluster is supposed to be vs the one you have in yours.
