what parts should i use?
i am doing a complete tune-up for my sister's 2000 si. should i buy all the stock parts from the honda dealership? i am buying.......spark plugs, wires, cap and rotor, and fuel filter. i was thinking of buying GH parts but they are kind of expensive. do you guys have any suggestions for parts that are just as good or even better than honda stock parts(for a regular tune-up)? or should i just ho to checkers or something? any help will be appreciated.

well I look at replacing any thing on my car like this "if I have to replace it I'm gona replace it with something better" but the car is your sisters and she might not want performance parts on her car and if she doesn't then go to honda and if she does go with after market I hope this helps

How many miles does she have on that Si?
If she has platinum plugs they aren't due until after 60K or even more, but as far as the scheduled tune-up goes, try this:
1. Valve adjustment
2. Valve cover gasket
3. Sparkplug tube seals
4. Rotor button
5. Air filter - unless she has an intake then clean if possible
6. Spark plugs if you must - NGK only
The valve adjustment is probably the most important piece there and unfortunately thet the first thing people skip because they don't know how to do it, but you're not really getting the full benefits unless you do it all right, you know?
As far as using Honda parts goes, aftermarket parts suck. Nothing comes close to Honda quality.
BTW:
Wires usually last over 100K, so that'll save you $50.00 for you to pay someone to adjust the valves for you if you're not sure on how to do it.

Valve adjustment made a huge difference in the way my car runs. The valves had never been adjusted and were at .020 and .023 and **** on the feeler gauges. We put em back at .006/7 and .007/8 and she sounded and drove much better . Took about half an hour in the garage.
