What oil psi
Im trying to see what kind of oil psi I should have on a 94 1.6 singel cam vtec motor.... and if it would be any diff then a 99 singel over head cam non vtec motor..... here is the thing... I wial back I blew the old motor up, so I used a 99dx lower and my 94 vtec head to make a singel cam many me. Well im about to trade the motor out... I am trading my set up and some money for a LS 1.8 with 65000 on it and mods.... I dont want to give this guy a bad motor so I went ahead and got bearings for the lower end.... The car will see awsome oil psi when its cold... It has even been known to idel around 65-80 depending on how cold it is... but once you get it hot like driving on the high way for a wial it wont see more than 60psi.... it idles around 20-30psi once again depending on how hot the car is and how you have been driving it.... some times I think I hear some lower end noise but its so quiet im not shure if its just in my head...... any help would be awsome
thanx
justin

Let's try to use real words next time. **** that was hard to read. . .wait, I couldn't read it. Damn, **** spell check, you need to find some real-word-check.
To try to answer your question: oil PSI depends on the RPM's that your car is at. When cold, of course the psi is going to be higher, rpms are higher.
Here's an example (my car, B16 with some mods): idle, right around 20psi, driving normally, 60-70psi, if I am fully on it around 80psi.

Re: What oil psi (sicky)
I guess you did not read it right then. Once the motor is hot after driving on the free way it will not see more than 60PSI sorry about the typos. I was in a hurry. I have gone back and fixed some of it.... BUMP

you are suppose to have 10lbs of oil pressure for every 1000 rpms.......so 3k rpm you should atleast have 30 psi....Atleast in the "muscle car" world thats what I learned....I dont see how its any different for any combustion engine.....

Re: What oil psi (PullinGeeees)
well i was out ******* with the car today and the oil psi is no longer my worry the oil psi is where it should be.... but if im standing there looking at the motor and I pop the the tbody open and let it close real quick as if you bump the gass peddle it makes a real quiet noise almost like detanation ... dus not sound like a rod nock to me but im not use to working on hondas ..... is this the begining of a problem?
