What OEM parts are different between R12 & 134 parts...
Guys, I think the last year of R 12 Civics was 1993. What parts were made different when they switched to 134. I know the the compressor was the same, just used the new type oil. Since the evaporator coil, inside, appears to have the expansion valve attached, I assume it is a made for 134 item. On GM cars, the condenser coil was made different, .....is the Honda condenser coil made different? I think the accumulator is also the same, it is just once installed and gased for one type refrigerant , it should not be used for the other type.
I have a 93 about to be put in service. I want to know what parts are different as to swap everything over. The 92-93 evaporator coils have a two wire "sensor" attached to the coil. The 94-95s have a three wire sensor. I want know if I swap the two wire sensor to the newer 94-95 coil assembly, will it work correctly with the new gas.
Since many later model stuff is available , I want know what the differences are, not just what will work. Thanks for any insite..

It's all different except for the relays, the hardlines, hoses, compressor, evaporator core, receiver/dryer etc. You'll need a subharness for under the dash too for the thermostat from a '94 - '95 car (you can get this harness from any '94 - '95 Civic, doesn't need to have had A/C)

Thanks 94, when you say the evaporator core is the same , I assume you mean just the coil itself. I assume that is the expansion valve that is in the core unit and it has to be changed, correct. That looks to be impossible , so one just needs to change the whole evap coil unit.
