what muffler should i use
i have a 92 dx hatch with a jdm d15b vtec. it has a loud canister on it right now thats straight through. whats a good quiet muffler that i can run with a little amount of backpressure and a factory style look, ie. no 4" tip hanging out the back. i like the look of the oem rsx, civic si or even the brand new accord v6 muffler is tight. im also going to be turboing it in the next couple of months also. help me out. thanks. pics are appreciated as well

If you still have stock piping get rid of it first off. Get some cat back piping with a nice resonator, like 14" long one.
Magnaflow mufflers sound great imo. They have oval one which when hit with some black paint look stock as hell.

Most factory honda mufflers are going to be too long to fit on a hatchback.
If you want quiet, put the stock muffler back on. The next quietest will be the Apexi WS or RSR Ex Mag.
It annoys me to see someone ask for a quiet muffler and people recommend something like an N1. If you think that's quiet, you're hearing must already be shot.
Magnaflow and ES mufflers are not what I would consider quiet. On a scale from 1-10.
1 - factory
2
3 - Apexi WS - RSR Ex mag
4 -
5 - Magnaflow (with resonator)
6 - N1 style exhausts with silencer
7 -
8 - N1 style exhausts (without silencer)
9
10 - open header
Any type of "performance" muffler is going to be loud. You have to decide what your priorities are. Daily driving a car that's loud as hell doesn't make sense to me just to try to gain a couple HP.
For the record, I drive B-series hatchbacks and have used 7 different exhausts on my cars so I'm not just spouting messageboard heresay.

i'd say ES or magnaflow if you're going for the stock look...also, you might want to consider the size of the muffler and piping too, if you're going turbo later...just something to think about...good luck

ive got oem piping right now because i dont want to spend money to have it done for n/a, then in a couple of months, have it done again to comply with the turboing later. btw, what would be the optimal pipng for a turbo setup on the d15b, 2.50"? also, an integra type R muffler wont fit under there, was that correct?

I thought optimal piping for FI apps was 3". Go with @ least a 22" resonator for the best sound dampening. The only problem with the WS & Rs*R is that the mufflers are chambererd and not a straight through design. Well for NA that would be fine, I don't know how well it would work for a FI car.

Re: what muffler should i use (a1320honda)
here's my list:
RS*R= quiet, stealthy, good quality
Apexi WS= quiet, stealthy(if painted), good quality, cheaper then RSR
es muff= reasonable quiet, cheapest of the three, good quality, stealthy.
RS*R is what I have my intake is louder then the exhaust.
