What motor should i swap?
im dumpin the d16y8 cause it sucks.
Which of the following do you think i should swap?
b18b1
b18c1
b18c5
h22a
b16a2
Im leaning towards b18b1 because its cheap and great for boost.

I would suggest the B18C5...can't go wrong with a Type R. It's light, pretty durable, and you got most stuff that people with B16's and other B18's want already: intake manifold, throttle body, cams, etc.

for $3000 you could get way more power out of that d16 than you could out of swapping a stock b18c1 in there.

hehe i'm not hating on b18c's , but i'm just saying calling the y8 shitty is stupid when it can be built to make decent power.

Thanks for searching dumb ***. Lets see what else would help? Oh yeah that little thing called a price range.
I agree with turbo y8/z6 though.

just do some kind of cheap junkyard turbo setup. It wouldn't cost that much and with $3000 you could have a fairly nice setup on the y8.

Yeah but what about potential? A better starting point is almost always going to give you more potential. Most, if not all, of the motors he listed have a lot more potential than anything that the D series has to offer.
As for the actual question. If I were in your situation, and had you kind of budget, it looks like the LS is the best choice. Cheap, and you can throw a sizeable amount of boost at it before you have to upgrade the internals.

Re: (YZF_R6)
this is one of the best threads if ever been in. ok the y8 can be boosted for under 1000 using a custom kit. then u have 2000+ to build internals or get a better tranny or both. b series are a good starting point. if u really want a b series i would go with b18b1 b16a head then go turbo. but there's nothin better then seeing a little d running 12's.
