i would stick with a y8, but if you got money for b series, and you dont need to smog, take a b series for an upgrade.

You can turbo the b16 and add a new intake/exhaust for more hp. There is alot you can do with a b16. Do you live in CA?

If you dont go with a JDM b18 GSR or type-r or a JDM type-r b16

lets say i get the full swap from hmo which comes with everything, do i still need to get a shift linkage or does the one that comes with the motor will work fine.

also i been reading alot about ls/vtec and b20 vtec, if done right those motors can make some decent power for a couple hundred less than buying a b18, and i am not really sure but probley around the same or a little less than a b16 swap.

mine is a dd also and i am bouncing back and forth from jdm b18c or doing a b20 vtec, only shooting for 180hp, 200hp if possible. and I live in alabama so no worries about smog sorry CA

Speaking from personal experience from a guy who's swapped done 15 swaps now, i'd say the biggest bank for the buck....B20Z. And yes, it makes more power and will outperform the B16A
Not enough people know about this, but trust me, its a killer! Here's the 96 CX Hatch i built last year, any more than half throttle in 1st gear at any speed, and it's smoking tires!

you WILL need the linkage that comes with the motor or any b series linkage they are the same JUST NOT FROM DEL SOL.
that is true about ls/vtec but you will need to build them or all you will have is a ticking time bomb.
for a dd i wouldnt do a b20 vtec.
i agree with deetz, b20zs are very good motors, and make very nice tourqe...
if it were me id do the b18c, but thats just me,
