The bolt pattern and sometimes the metal shaft that runs through the middle. Everything electronic is the same though and can be swapped back and forth.

The distributors I have seen, have all been essentially the same inside. The ICM is generally a different part number from car to car, however as said, swappable.

Some are Hitachi, some are OKI and some are NEC. IIRC the NEC and OKI ICMs are externally identical, the Hitachi ICMs are shapped a little differently and you have file down a couple of little nubs on an NEC/OKI ICM bracket for a Hitachi ICM to sit flat. They are all interchangeable though.
