The...D15B series, correct?
Well, it's cheap to work on. Cheapest of the Honda motors to start hot rodding, but just don't expect HUGE gains...though, there are a few turbo kits you can put on D series engines (EXs in particular, but parts interchange).
By the way, my EG coupe has it's original D15 inside. Will most likely become a turbo engine end of this month. Although the power output is nothing to really brag about, great and FUN! car to drive in and around from place to place.
I'd say, if you want to learn the basics of Honda engine modifying, the D series is the way to go. Simple motor that shares A LOT of similarities with it's B and K series cousins.

cheap pretty much, and basic. You can take a D15B block and put a D16Z head on it for the mini-me. The D15 has a better R/S ratio than the D16Z, so it has higher rpm and wear potential. But it still is just a 1.5L

and if your reffering to the JDM D15b you have 130hp to start off...

Yeah I was thinking about buying one and boosting it but don't know how good that d15b would hold up. That 130 hp's stock sure sounds nice though for like only $400. Also you could be lucky and net yourself a lsd tranny since the d15b came with those, but thats like winning on a skratch-off. Odds aren't that bad though but can't imagine the tranny for it being that bad anyway without a lsd.

I thought it was "hot ****" cuz it comes with stock "roller rockers" which allow for HUGE increases in rpm range... when built for it properly.

I've read the same thing. But it's cheap and good on gas.
Why are you swapping anyway? If your current engine is still good, just slap a turbo on there.
