If you do most of your work yourself get an EX and put together a turbo kit, if you'll don't want to turbo get an Si out of the box they have much more power then the ex even with 2k in NA upgrades. But it's also expensive to upgrade a b16a and if you screw anything up with your motor or tranny it's expensive to replace where as a Y8 motor can be bought with low miles for a few hundred bucks.

But if you have a ton of money get the Si it has better styling then the Ex and is faster and the B16a is a good starting block

92-95 Hatchback (Si is you can find one). The motor is so low in Hp it's not worth mentioning but it has a little power after it's rolling (pay attention to the word little).

All the Civics that I've heard about are pretty good with bolt ons. The key is the build up the block

The '96-2000 ex has 127 hp and no they really don't take to bolt ons well Put it this way I have a fully built y8 here is my mod list
jg camshaft
port and polished head
valve job
10.5:1 compression pistons
AEM CAI
4-2-1 header
test pipe
2.25 custom exhaust to Mugen Twinloop muffler
prelude injectors
p28ecu with uberdata
b18throttle body
clutchmasters flywheel and stage 2 clutch
some other **** but that's all i can think about

I beat civics with b16 swaps but loose to gsr swapped civics. So probably aroound a 35hp increase from stock for all that work

Now if you have $1500 you can put together a kick *** turbo kit, run uberdata and some dsm 450injectors and at 9psi You'll put down 200hp to the wheels tuned right. And with prober tuning and maintence should be very reliable.
