Default What kind of TB is this? :|

I already searched, and I found one thread with a diagram of a b18c1 TB, and I suppose thats the closest looking thing to it. I bought this a few months ago from an HT member under the assumption it was a b16 TB, and according to the "SOHC Upgrade thread" I had the impression that pretty much any b-series TB basically bolted right up to a d16 intake mani.

The TB on the right is a 97 y8 MT TB, and the one on the left is unknown. The bolt pattern is the same, but it has that sensor? on the bottom and the vacuum openings inside the TB are odd as well as the throttle rotor is 180 degrees off from the y8 rotor.

Wtf TB is this, and is it feasible to fit it onto a d-series manifold? If it requires too much ******* around I'll just sell it and find a true b16/bolt on b-series TB.

Thanks.

Ok, so now that we've determined that, is there any feasible way to make it work vacuum wise? Or just sell it and get a b16 TB?

You could remove the bottom part with the 2 coolant passages. Then make a block off plate and bolt that up (so u wont have a big leak and idle at 5500rpm)

It still doesnt solve the rotor being 180 degrees off. I'm doing my build once and doing it right, I think I'll just sell this one and get a true b16 TB so I dont have to **** around with too much stuff. I'm building my top end and if I have to ghetto-fab it, its not going on. Im doing it once and doing it right.

Oh well, now at least I know to advertise it as a GSR tb.

you can swap the rotor with one from your D series tb. on my b16, i had a GSR tb with a CX rotor on it (for smog reasons, converting a sir-1 to usdm spec)

Ok, so using the first pic, the vacuum line that connects to the bottom right nipple on the d-tb would go onto that top middle nipple, and the bottom middle one would stay the same? And the rotors could be swapped, so that solves that I suppose.

Would I have any issues with vacuum leaks if I just made a block off plate for the bottom there and used the proper TB gasket? Nothing else would be adversely affected would it? I mean the TPS and MAP are in identical spots, so thats nice.

I was just going to port out my intake manifold today, noticed this and it kind of killed my motivation for the day.
