$2K won't get you a SirII. The swaps themselves run about $2-2.5K. On top of that there are various parts you need to replace. Hoses, filters, gaskets, fluids, axles, linkage, mounts, brackets, and axles.

for the amount of money you would put into the non-obd B16a, it would have been cheaper to the obdi b16a2/3

I have to agree here, there are a lot of "myths" passed around with swapping in a 1st gen b16. It's not like you just buy the swap kit, pop it in, voila! All that pre-obd-obd1 swapping gets so ugly after a while.
Things you will have to replace/not be able to use out of b16a.
all mounts,
linkage,
distributor (without major modification)
immense soldering will have to be done.
header will not meet up properly
you will have to do something about 02 sensor.
ecu, one of those runs about $225.
all that.
You see, these things really aren't worth it, and when somebody like me walks up on a 1st gen b16 crammed in a nice car, it almost makes me sick, all the weird vacume throttle actuators and ancient looking puke yellow plugs everywhere.
To save up $500 more and have such a superior swap, i don't see how you can compare.
And if you don't have it, save. It's worth the wait.
Another option i would suggest.
d16z6 (single cam vtec) and used Jackson Supercharger.

Um, unless that's really cheap for some reason, it's not worth it.
The transmission is my biggest qualm with the whole issue. Your car has a hydraulic clutch, the 1st gen is cable. You have to buy a complicated, ugly HA sport kit to make it work. Not worth it IMO.
And piecing a swap together, that is the biggest nightmare in the world.

Re: what kind of swap should i do to the del sol (Plan B)
I have the first gen b16a in my car....
the cable tranny is fine i have not had any problems with it since it has been put it...(over a year ago....)
I am not sure, but you can probably score one of those engines for under a 1000 bucks.....
Just get your ecu chipped, axels, shift linkage and shifter, the right mounts, timing belt, water pump, etc.....
you can probably easily get that first gen b16 in your car with the 2000 you have, but you will soon be wanting more....
just get a D16 and nos your car..... with the money left over, you'll have money to spend on other things....

del Sols do not like H22s. Perhaps if you're going straight, but handling blows. This is because of the engine weight and the cars body being so small.

damn that sucks... are engines around texas that expensive? well get to know a shop or see if some friends have anything. if at all possible try recycler.com if it's available. 2000 is able to get me good motors, but i'm still looking for reductions. good luck, try b18b boost or b18c. the ls motor is probably better cause its not as much, but you can always change to ls/vtec or boost...

I would say get a D16Z6. Tear it down and replace all the gaskets and seals. Put the thing back together and drop in a Nitrous Express wet kit. The whole thing should cost you about 2K with all the required safety parts for the Nitrous ie..Progressive controler, upgraded ignition, and fuel pump.
Plus you will have the aded bonus of having a lighter setup then running the B16. Just something to think about.
