what kind of ecu ?
hello. i have a 94 civic ex with a b18c1 engine swap.
i was wondering what kind of ecu i should get. i was thinking about getting a p28 ecu, but my friend pointed out to me that it's an ecu for a civic, and not a gsr. would this still work? if not, what kind of ecu should i get ?

if motor is stock use a P72 OBDI ECU. Otherwise chipped P28 with IAB hardware will do the same and might be slightly cheaper, only thing it will not have is knock sensor which is pretty usless.

when we say stock motor we usually mean internal things like pistons or headgaskets that change compression, or cams that will need to be tuned.
since it sounds like you are running a gsr swap with bolt-ons, then a p72 would be your best bet.
depending on the year of your car and motor, you will need either OBDI or OBDII
IABs refers to the secondary intake runners in your intake manifold, civics do not have this so a civic ecu will not know how to control them unless modified.
just use the p72 and you will be fine. kinda makes sense to use the ecu that would normally control that engine right?

thanks for the responses they really helped.
i went to one6 motorsports today, and i bought a skunk2 gsr intake manifold, a skunk2 chipped ecu (or something like that, also can't remember if it's OBDI or OBDII), and then i bought an apexi v-afc II . i'm so broke tho, i spent 850 dollars in one day, so yeah.
