What HKS Hi-Flow Cat back do I order for my 97 DX hatch with a B16a2 swap?
I know this will probably be dumb to most of you, however this is new to me and google really is not helping. Here is my predicament. I want the HKS Hi-Flow Cat back for my 97 DX hatch. However I have a B16a2 swapped. How would I go about ordering one? Or does the cat back have to be model and engine specific?
I know bashing will ensue but whatever, tis the internet. All I need is advice for I can not seem to google this. Kthanxbai.

Correct me if I'm wrong, as I am new to the honda scene, but I believe you just need to find the size of the outlet of the cat and then match that size to a catback of your body-type. You could always find someone with a tube-bender to install/modify.

There might be a handful out there. Basically you need an ex/si b-pipe with a hatch rear section. Or you can just have a reputable exhaust shop shorten up the b-pipe that comes with the exhaust. The hatch ones are all made to run right up to the back of the a-pipe since they all came with the close coupled cat in this market. You'll need to purchase a 3 bolt flange to mate to the back of your cat.
Actually, since no tubing even needs to be bent or anything, I would say just ask around and find a qualified welder who you trust to use the right wire and do a clean job and you should be good to go.

wouldnt you get the cat back that fits your specific car. but the header is the one that should fit your motor. cause my del sol has a b16a2 and i just bought a skunk 2 mega power that fits my sol but the dc header fits the motor. my buddies say it should fit right. hopefully it will be the same for yours

Your Del Sol is different. All 93-95 Sol's had the cat under the car. The 96-00 civic that came with a d16y7 or y5 had longer b-pipes than ones that came with the y8 or b16 because the cat was part of the exhaust manifold instead of being under the car. The 96-97 Del Sol S (d16y7) should have the longer pipe too, but I haven't looked under one in close to ten years so I can't remember.

If I were to get that then the section B would have to be shortened. Or I have thought about going with the Skunk 2 made to fit the hatch with the B series. I am just hoping that that one doesnt sound too raspy.

Here is what I have so far. Stock B16 with no cat and stock DX piping. previous owner did this mess and I want to fix it with quality parts.

Depending on the header, fit that with a cat. and then mod the b-pipe for your car(h/b) from HKS. I'm sure you have to shorten it.

being that this is a b16 SWAPPED motor he didn't use the dx header because it don't fit. he would wanna buy an exhaust for a ex or si and it should bolt right on. maybe alil bit of modifying at the header flange but it wouldn't be hard to do if u know someone that knows how to weld because all u would be doing is shorting the mid pipe a couple inches...

i have a dx hatch with a b16a2 swap as well with the HKS hi power exhaust. I bought mine from weksos industries and it came with everything to bolt right in. It is a great sounding exhaust and i love how the angeled look looks on the hatch.

heres a few pics. i used the mid pipe they gave me, but it doesnt fit over the whole collector for my stock exhaust manifold, but it makes a good enough seal

the HKS cb ehaust is made to fit your specific vehicle without modification, if you want to make it fit correctly you're gonna have to find a stock cat then modify the header collector to make it fit. I have the HKS Hi-Power cb exhaust on my 97 ex (which i bought way before the swap) with a b18 swap and like i said it bolts directly to the car NO MODIFICATION, the only thing that needed tweaking was the header collector so it would bolt to the existing stock cat

OP, there ya go. You just need to omit the short pipe extension.

THIS. I've been trying to get a straight answer for a while as to whether a couple of different exhaust come with that extension or are actually made with a longer b-pipe. No one ever seems to know. You finally answered regarding the hks. I wonder if Apexi are the same way. Thanks for the pic.
