Default What headunit are you using? (EG audio related topic)

Alright now I did a search, in both this forum and the audio/security forum.

Basically I would like to see what everyones audio setup is, to get ideas. Also those without audio, opinions are welcome/wanted.

I just bought my EH2 a couple weeks ago and the sounds suck donkeys ***.. so I am gonna do something about it. I want some ideas and opinions.

Stock amber unit? Aftermarket unit with amps and whole "bump bump" thing?

Once again, if your gonna flame dont bother posting... I just wanted some ideas

I'm just using a Kenwood CD/MP3 HU with infinity kappa's all the way around.

99-00 civic head unit

In my old car I had a sony somethingerother with 6.5 infinity kappa 63.5is all around. That sounded awesome.

I have a Sony head unit and 6.5". The rear speakers are stock. Um... rear speakers suck because my head unit puts out too much power for them.

Subs weigh way too much to be put in a Civic if you have ANY aspirations of running it for speed (unless you take it out before you run). I would just say do the aftermarket thing all the way around. Stock set up sucks.

i had a pioneer headunit from about 1932 lol it died so as of now i have nothing.

At least you got to take yours out...mine got stolen...so I never put in back in.

I plan on putting a Mini-ITX computer in my car...that will be my cd/mp3/dvd/navigation/GPS/vehicle sensor sensor monitor...all for about $1000

Pioneer DEH-1600 HU. Cheap, has a simple look, but sounds great. Also have 2 Pioneer TS-A167OR 180w 6.5 speakers, but still louder than my previous deck and with 2 additional 100w rear speakers. Pioneer

Pioneer 2700 deck (or some number like that), it greatly improved the sound quality
2 97 ex speakers (6.5") in the doors and two 6.5" Jensens in the back, has Mid's like a sunavabitch (enough to rattle the rear view like crazy)
If your car's a coupe, I'd suggest putting at least one sub in there, coupe's always seem to be the best for that as compared to the four doors (far less rattle).

I've got a Pioneer 8400 in my truck and a cheaper Pioneer in my Civic. I've had Sony, Kenwood, and Clarion. I like the Pioneer head units best.

cheap pioneer head unit... cheap pioneer speakers... tires and exhaust are too loud to bother with having audio crap that'll get stolen anyway.

1997 Honda Accord EX headunit. Slides right in, nice a tight against the "frame" of the dash. Plugs right in without modification. My Civic's radio stopped lighting up, had to change it, so I used my girl's radio (she has the Accord) because she bought a Sony headunit.

jbl 6.25 front
gathers speakers in the panels
alpine 6x9s in the cargo cover
alpine / mtx amp

no need to be bored in traffic

i've had the same cd player for the past 4 years but it's never failed to produce quality sound. kenwood z727 with alpine type s speakers in the front. no rear speakers. and for the bump bumps, 2 12'' xtants with a 760w pioneer amp. all of this is in a full interior 94 cx and it still hauls ***.

i took out all my speakers, and made a flat homemade fiberglass plate screwed/superglued to the console to cover the open space.

who needs music when you have speed.

I'm running a Pioneer 6400 head unit with the intergrated Xm Tuner (radio sucks *** man!) Two JL Audio 10" subs in a custom encloser right behind the driver/pasenger seats (ITs a del sol) Two JL Audio 6.5"? componets in the door panels and two Jl full range 6.5"s in the rear. With one nice secuirity system all custom I went with the JL's cause they were inexpensive for the quality you get. and i got a deal buying everything at once. Also i went with 10's because there right behind the seat dont need to be too powerfull because it dosent have much of anything to travel threw aka a trunk and since you dont need the extra power why pay more for something that you wont need? and most subs sound crappy if you turn them down below there Rms anyhow so 100w for me

haha.. people who need to drive 5+ hours to get places. pioneer 7500 mp3 deck, MB quarts 6.5" components up front, JL 12w3v2 in the trunk
