What head gasket for low-mid boost levels?
Hiya fellas- I just got a JDM motor replacement for my D16Z6 because the shop that did my turbo return line put a cheap rubber line on that wasnt meant to handle hot oil and it ripped and all my oil drained out on the street and needless to say the motor killed itself because I had no way of knowing till it was too late. Anyway- the motor I got had a ton of old oil gunk all over the valvetrain like somebody didnt change the oil in it for about 20k miles at least. Dont get on my case about it, I already tried returning/exchanging it and they said no because it only comes with a "30 day startup warranty" so if i didnt try to start it, they wont take it back as being fuct up. So my next choice was to remove the head and put it in a parts washer for a few hours, then put a new head gasket on and some head studs and call it a day. My question is- what head gasket should I get for running low to mid boost on this motor? (5-10 psi) Its a D15B (130hp JDM vtec) motor. Some people have said to use just a plain old stock gasket, others have said to use a Cometic gasket for boost. Then I also heard about a Mr Gasket "stackable" head gasket that I can use to actually lower the compression a little bit for the boost. Let me know your thoughts, thanks-
